I have been doing genealogy online for several years. If you pay all the time it is expensive. I watch for 14 day free trials on ancestry once in awhile. I also join ancestry now and then for a couple of months at a time at about 25$ a month. It has been worth it to me. There is a lot of free stuff on Rootsweb.com too
